Wei Shen Lin Keywords: Chinese Greenhouse Chinese connected house opaque angle sun height (angle) Gutter mat Abstract: The Chinese greenhouse evolved from the original lean-to-house had been greatly changed to be a progressive type through recent 50 years .All of these types of greenhouse being of the south-ward sloping plastic membrane rooves, may receive more sunlight energy, so may be used cultivating in winter, cooperating with straw mats covering at night and little amount of artificial heating. A new type of Chinese greenhouse with high sun light energy efficiency invented by the author. It might be used in cultivating normally in winter without using artificial heating in regions where minimum temperature is -30∩ and may gain higher yield of about 22.5-50kg/m. The Chinese greenhouses are of a grave fault in unable greatly enlarging its self area. This is a need of the present production and development. To connect several lean-to-houses seems to be a better step for this need. According this opinion the author had designed and built 4 connected greenhouses (2,3,4,5 single houses were respectively connected) in 2000 year in Bao-tow city, Inner Mongolia. Based on the applying result with its merits and faults and analysis about the past connected greenhouses the author designed three kinds of 2 to 4 single houses of connected greenhouse for Huhehot. Five strategic points are as follows: (1) Two to four single houses are rational for building in enlarging as well as saving 1-3 folds of area; (2) In order to let all of the rooves of the connected greenhouse gaining the sun light in winter, the opaque angle of each front house must be equal to the sun height(angle)in Dec.21st at noon, and let the bottom line of the transparent membrane roof of the rear house fixed on the northern edge of the connected gutter; (3) The east west and north side walls of the connected greenhouse are made up of standing bricks with 5 rows and 4 cavities. These walls might prevent the chill invading in and the heat escaping out ; (4) All rooves are covered by mats at night and rolling down in morning by auto machine; (5) The size of the draining gutter should be smaller for decreasing the sun shading area, its width and depth are 8cm and 7cm respectively.
